Jan Strojewski, Fullstack Developer

“At Evojam,

  • I’ve learnt a lot from really good software engineers.

Our workplace culture promotes learning and knowledge sharing. It takes place not only during presentations but also on Slack and at a coffee break.

We attach great importance to code review. That’s the moment when you can learn the most from other developers while working on the project.

There is an engineer who explained many concepts and procedures to me — Krystian. His technical skills are remarkable, and he’s always eager to share his knowledge. We’ve been cooperating since the very beginning of my Evojam journey, and he helped me adopt best practices.

To conclude, I’ve picked up the majority of my programming skills at Evo :)

  • The quality of our code and apps is a top priority.

From a software developer’s point of view, I think that writing a clean, high-quality code is a common goal of Evojammers. I find it amazing!

There are only occasional instances in which we can’t reach the quality standards we expect from ourselves — there’s not enough time or we join an ongoing project and take technical debt.

  • The company takes care of its employees.

Marek and Michał — the founders of Evojam — made it their mission to create a programmer-friendly environment.

Evo is trying to choose projects in which the developers feel comfortable. If a project doesn’t suit a developer, the company either makes some adjustments or takes the person off the project.

Evojam collects feedback on employee benefits, such as integration trips and private healthcare, to improve employee satisfaction.

We’re offered help in critical situations — e.g., during the COVID-19 outbreak, the company sent us work equipment to ensure that conditions at home are similar to the ones in the office

  • You can meet great people.

It’s partially an outcome of what I described before. Plus employees are nice and friendly.

Evo doesn’t aspire to become a huge organization. Thanks to this approach, all employees know each other, and our cooperation — time tracking included — is based on trust. Because of the small company size, the traditional hierarchical management style is not needed.”

Aliona Petsevich, Business Developer

“Two years have already passed since I joined Evojam. Two amazing years — full of self-development opportunities, team growth, knowledge sharing, new acquaintances, struggles, and occasional tears.

I remember the first day I came to Evojam — just for a talk, not having any hopes for getting a job, having my luggage in one hand and my boyfriend in the other :)

First impressions after a coffee talk in the office were amazing — the kitchen, coffee, cake, snow falling in the garden. The atmosphere that you fall in love with. The atmosphere that you truly want to come back to.

And, what was the most important, no empty promises on their side! They just gave me a close look and considered our cooperation.

But something must have happened that winter day because I’m here!

I love my colleagues, their support, and their courage. I adore our new office in the centre of Warsaw, my desk with a beautiful view, and sunsets — which make my phone overloaded with stunning pics!

Extra attention should be paid to corporate parties! This is the best time in the office — with colleagues from all over the world! The memories of the crowded space and noisy atmosphere of these days warm my heart even when I have plenty of work to do️.

Evojam gives freedom. It doesn’t matter in which department you work, you are always free to engage in other, sometimes “extracurricular,” activities. Your ideas are precious, and there’s always someone to promote them. You’re constantly inspired to pick up new skills, meet new people, and open the horizons that were unknown to you before.

And there’s a bonus — a lot of cool branded merchandise and tasty healthy snacks :)”

Krzysztof Antecki, Frontend Developer

“I can honestly say that Evojam is the first company I’ve worked for that I’m fully satisfied with. It’s hard for me to see any negative aspects!

What I appreciate most is how highly Evojam values people and the relationships they build. It makes workdays much more enjoyable — you work with your friends, not just colleagues. Nobody has bad intentions, there’s no false flattery. This atmosphere, combined with interesting, well-chosen projects and social events — such as holiday parties and integration trips — makes Evo days go by fast.

Evojam’s clear career path and pay transparency should be held up as the best example of working practice. Feedback is collected regularly and summarized every 3 months, so you don’t wait long for someone to appreciate your efforts. And If there’s room for improvement or a new area of development, you’ll be immediately informed about it and offered practical guidance on how to reach your goal.

This system helps us put Evojam’s motto, “Keep growing,” into effect. Everybody — regardless of the role, experience, or seniority level — can expect the company to support their development.”

Jakub Konik, Fullstack Developer

“I have been working for Evojam for more than 2 years. The company has been growing and evolving all this time.

I always say that projects are not the most important thing — sometimes you work on something more interesting, sometimes on something that you are less keen on. But what remains after each project are the people that you work with.

At Evojam, we have a great team — from programmers and PMs through Sales and HR representatives to CEOs. I know that I can count on the people I work with. They are always open to talk and answer both programming and non-technical questions.

I think that we are fully united, mostly thanks to the many integration events that we organize for the whole team. Having great people as coworkers makes going to work a pleasure.

At Evojam, we are focused on people and their wellbeing. That’s why, as a programmer, I have an impact on the projects I work on, the technologies I use, and my working hours — which isn’t common in other companies.

Keep on doing such a great job, team!”

Magdalena Welik, Backend Developer

“The first time I heard about Evojam was right before a job fair at the Warsaw University of Technology. I felt that it might be a perfect match for me from the very beginning. At the job fair, I met Ula, who was just like a reflection of Evojam's spirit. The recruitment process itself was very clear, and I was getting feedback at every stage.

Despite starting as an intern, I was given regular tasks and I was treated as an equal team member from day one. In the course of time, I was given more challenges and responsibilities.

I’m working with amazing, supportive people, who I can always count on. Thanks to them, I can pick up both technical and non-technical skills. Evojam's motto is “keep growing,” and they truly encourage me to grow. I have the opportunity to develop and practice the skills of my choice. There’s also a clear bullet-point career path, which I’m personally a fan of :)”

Artur Bankowski, Head of Delivery

“When I joined Evojam as a Backend Engineer, the company was only about 5 people in total. Before we even considered permanent cooperation, I did some work to support an ongoing project. I got recommended by the CTO, with whom I previously worked. Meeting my former colleagues and having a chance to collaborate with them again made me feel at home.

I had already known the CEO, Marek, for a couple of months, so my soft-skill recruitment happened around a month after I joined the team for good. The onboarding at that time was quick. Actually, we just started setting up everything, like processes and tools, from scratch. Somewhere along the way, I became a software architect. When our CTO left the company, I ended up in charge of Evojam’s technological needs and eventually was named Head of Development.

I’ve always liked Evojam and the people that work here. We have multiple common values that influence both our private and professional decisions on a daily basis. Even though we’ve had better and worse times together, I can always be sure that we share the same principles.

When I finally improved my communication skills, I realised that I could have a big influence on the company from the very beginning. The potential hidden in each of us has always been the biggest value. Now I see that we are so much better at helping each other to make use of our talents and stimulate growth. I appreciate that I can shape my role and grow at my own pace.

We have established sincere and direct communication with each other. Evojam is the organisation where I feel safe speaking up, taking actions and experimenting — I’m not afraid to make mistakes.

I work for Evojam because I feel I can still help the company and other team members. I constantly look for new areas of development, and opportunities here are limitless — your role is not carved in stone. I have an influence on our goal, work and relations and I can empower others to participate too. I believe I am a valued member of our family and I know they still need me.”

Marcin Wadon, Fullstack Developer

“My adventure at Evojam started more than 3 years ago. The recruitment process was way different from the ones I’d had before, so it’s the moment I remember the most. The interview was simply a chat about my skills, interests, and feelings.

I joined as the first fully remote developer. Having worked in the office for several years, I had my doubts about working from home. I was really surprised to find out how remote-friendly Evojam is. Since the first day, I haven’t felt lonely and I’ve considered myself an integral part of the team. I might be even spending too much time talking with other people :)

I still feel the excitement for all the projects — each one gives you an opportunity to grow, each one is different. As long as you are willing to learn, Evojam is a perfect place to grow and improve your skills — not only the technical ones but also the soft ones, so much needed in the IT world and beyond. You can even learn how to make a superb coffee or pizza.

I hope someday I will be able to tell you how Evojam supported my transition from a frontend javascript to a backend scala developer.

Evojam is a company I feel appreciated in — where the boss is not a boss but a friend of all the teammates.”

Marek Grochala, CEO

“I've been a team member of Evojam for some time. Actually, I’m the employee with the longest employment history at Evojam. Before I joined Evojam, I had worked for other companies for 11 years. Feeling like a hipster now because I joined Evojam before it was actually named Evojam or became an established company. I recruited myself and my cofounder to push this idea in late 2012, and the third co-founder followed us in late 2013.

Our recruitment process was quite smooth since we had known each other for many years, but the onboarding process took us some time ;) I remember these crazy times when we were getting first clients and other team members. I also remember the frustration when things didn’t go as planned, the team morale was bad, or we repeated the same mistakes — which I personally don’t like the most.

But we always knew we wanted to create a great place to work. A place where people can grow as a team and as individuals — that’s the “Evo” part of Evojam — and where clients can get a variety of benefits from building their products with us. Since we didn’t feel good about corporate-style organizations, we decided to stay small and do things differently on so many levels — sometimes improvising. And that's the “jam” part of Evojam.

I consider Evojam to be a people company. People are the reason behind every decision made here and the foundation of many initiatives, such as the feedback system, salary grid and transparency, public-speaking workshops, and a choice of clients we cooperate with.

I must admit it is a pleasure to observe team members growing and outgrowing us. I realized I sometimes prefer to stay aside not to disturb brilliant people at work. I noticed that offering continuous learning and development opportunities is important, but bringing in fresh blood has also resulted in a positive change.

I must say I have met so many great teammates along the way, more than anywhere else — and that’s one of the reasons I have been working for Evojam longer than for any other company before. The other reason is that people here still laugh at my jokes! ;)”

Michal Panek, Frontend Developer

“My journey at Evojam began almost three and a half years ago thanks to Krystian Pudlik — currently a senior developer at Evojam — who was recruited three months before me. At the time he helped me contact Evojam, I was an inexperienced junior developer with just one commercial project on my CV :) In addition, it was a novelty for Evojam to recruit people from outside the location of the main office, and they had no programmers working remotely those days. I must admit that hiring me back then —  such a rookie and greenhorn junior developer — was pretty risky :) At Evojam, they are not afraid of making unorthodox moves, which may be a great strategy for the company in the long run.

It was not like I wanted to quit my previous job because I didn’t like the company, or I felt bad working for them. I just wanted to advance my knowledge and skills as a developer. I believed that it’s more possible with Evojam than with one of the best companies in Rzeszów that I used to work for. It means that this move was as risky for me as it was for Evojam :) But I wanted to learn.

The recruitment process was a win-win situation for me. If I got hired, it would be good for me. And if I didn’t, at least I would get to see Warsaw — the Polish capital, which I hadn’t been to since childhood. ;) Anyway, a win-win situation, as I said :)

So, I had a positive attitude towards the recruitment process, and I ended up joining Evojam and tripling my salary, which is one of the perks that came with the job ;)

Evojam opened a branch office in Rzeszów for us, so that we could separate our private and professional lives. Now, we have coworkers in other Polish cities, like Katowice and Krakow, and even more short-term contractors.

I’ve come a long way, transitioning from a junior developer — somewhere at the beginning of the Kruger-Dunning effect’s graph ;) — to a much better developer, which I am now :) There’s still room for improvement, though. This journey was no bed of roses, it was hard sometimes. There were crises, as it usually happens. But they passed. We’ve survived together. At least for now :)

Evojam doesn’t let you get rusty. The Evojam’s name itself and one of the mottos — “Keep Growing”, encourage you to take a step forward. It’s not a company where you keep doing the same thing day after day, year after year. If you are looking for a monotonous job, Evojam is definitely not the best place for you ;)

In my opinion, what is the power behind Evojam is being able to balance every aspect of running a tech company. We develop good quality products for our clients without sacrificing our personal time. We also have an optimal effort-reward ratio.

Evojam puts trust in you and gives you a high salary based on your growth rather than your experience as a programmer. You can become a senior after a year, why not. If you are good enough, everything is possible. And, by the way, you don’t need to beg for a raise ;) If the company sees you’ve developed, you can be sure you will get it. You will get high-quality work equipment as well.

On the other hand, you probably will not be kicked out without warning, or because there is no project for you right now. Unless you do something really inappropriate, to put it politely, but you probably know what I mean ;)

What’s really great is that the company puts a lot of emphasis on creating a friendly environment. Mutual respect is one of the fundamentals of a well-functioning and productive workplace. Being rude in this company is not beneficial in the long run, trust me :)

Of course, there are still minor things that can be improved. Developing ourselves or our business is a part of our lives. Or at least it should be.

Evojam has come a long way and made many improvements since my first day as a junior front-end developer. It’s almost a different company now. Over three years ago, it was a place with a bunch of ideas and reflections, but also many aspects to work on and perfect. Today the company is more sophisticated, highly refined. So, it’s extremely unlikely that the company will not develop even further — becoming a better place to work in and offering more mature solutions for the clients.

Even though people may come and go — as it happens with other IT companies — Evojam's spirit stands firm and evolves :)“

Piotr Dzieciol, Project Manager

“It was a sunny Thursday afternoon. My job interview was starting in 3 minutes. I walked into the building — stressed but excited. Ula met me at the door and said that she was sorry but our scheduled interview might start a few minutes late. “Would you like a cake?” she asked with a big smile :) The team was celebrating a birthday, and they invited me — a “stranger” — to their celebration.

I believe that this situation showed me what Evojam is really about — being open, friendly, kind, and authentic. Since the very first chat there — I knew it was the place I wanted to be.

Before I joined Evojam, I was working for a big company in the power generation industry. Not only did I change my job but also the industry. I believe I’ve taken one of the best decisions in my career, and each day at Evojam only confirms my belief. Some highlights of how it looks from my perspective:

  • Ultrafast recruiting process. The initial contact, one phone call, and three onsite interviews concluded with an offer — all in just one week! All of my friends and colleagues were astonished at the speed of the process.

  • Just amazed and super inspired by how closely Evojam looks at candidates. I felt as if they were looking for a friend, not just an employee. All the traits that they were looking for and the unusual questions they were asking are the backbones of what Evojam really is. Now, having joined Evojam, I realize they’ve done an outstanding job. When I look at the people who work here, I can see not only the greatest talents but also the best personalities merged into one strong team.

  • “In theory” equals “in reality”. There are many companies that might look good on paper, but in reality, it is a different story. It’s not the case of Evojam. The values I heard about before joining are embedded in the business strategy and vision — they influence all the decisions and actions and change the way we work and cooperate. They are also reflected in how the team and customers are treated.

  • No complaining. It is something extraordinary for me! :) Everybody I’ve talked to doesn’t even come close to complaining. And we’re talking about Polish guys here, complaining is Poland’s national sport ;) But it only shows how well they are treated and to what extent their needs are met.

  • Trust at all levels. Transparency, great communication channels, and complete trust in people — trust that they’ll get the job done. That’s what I’ve noticed, and I think it’s outstanding as it enables the people to grow.

  • Passion for our work. The people at Evojam are not doing their work because someone told them to — they do it because they understand its value, they have a mission, and they simply enjoy it.

  • Awesome starter pack :) Amazing gadgets, beautifully prepared. The only thing I regret is that I forgot to take a picture ;(“

Thomas van den Broek, Project Manager

“I’ve been working for Evojam for over 3 years, and this is my story.

I moved to Poland in 2016 and started looking around for a project manager job. It had been my dream for a long time. When I came across the job ad posted by Evojam on Facebook, it immediately spoke to me — mostly due to the company’s culture, open-mindedness, and the people-first approach.

After being grilled in the interviews, and grilling Evojam in the same way, I decided to join. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Over the past 3.5 years, I’ve been given the room to bring my experience and culture into the company. I’ve been building and adjusting teams based on my own vision, which happens to overlap with Evojam's vision, so it works perfectly.

What impressed me most then, and still does, is the people-oriented culture. We are taking care of our team members in every possible way. At Evojam, you are not just a number but a valuable mind that helps yourself and others grow.

I had the luck to be the first project manager at Evojam, which posed a lot of challenges. But it also created a massive sandbox where I could play and explore. That’s how I found the best way of building effective teams whose members are treated as individuals rather than the workforce.

Over the past 3 years, I’ve worked with amazing teams and cool clients from all around the world — Hong Kong, Germany, Silicon Valley. It allowed me to build a network of awesome and smart people that I love to work with.

The best thing about Evojam? When you have an idea, you’re free to pursue it however you want to. Evojam is agile and gives you the room to develop yourself and your own initiatives.

Special shout-out to our CEO, Marek Grochala, who quickly understood that giving me free rein and responsibility would yield the best results.“

Weronika Lapinska, HR Specialist

“When I started looking for a new job, I was already sure that I did not want to find “just” another job. I was looking for a place where I could develop my skills and myself, contribute to the whole team and be directly responsible for the whole company. Having fun while doing all the things mentioned wouldn’t hurt either — actually, I considered it quite a crucial perk.

Having reviewed many job offers, I finally found the one posted by Evojam. I saw they were looking for a person who is ready for an adventure and I thought, “Okay, you have my curiosity”. Then I saw that Evojam understands HR as Human Relations, not just Human Resources, and I thought, “Now you have my attention!” ;) It was important for me, as a people person, to find a place with such values.

The job interview was far from being typical. It was a meeting with people smiling almost all the time, and these people immediately became “my people”. Evojam pays a lot of attention not only to the professional background but also to the candidate as a whole. That’s the Evojam’s secret sauce.

Finally, I feel that I am in the right place — where my work is not just work but my passion. From the very beginning, I have received a lot of support from the whole team. They welcomed me as if I had been working with them for a very long time. My other HR half — Ula, supports me in every possible way to help me keep growing. At Evojam, you can create many wonderful things while having fun with the same people you’d have fun with in your free time. When I mention my job to my friends, they always say that they see how much happiness it brings me and how much I am contributing to the company's progress. They can’t even believe that such a place exists. Well, it does. It is called Evojam — a company where every single person is a different piece of the puzzle, which one put together makes the whole picture.“

Zuzanna Makowska, head of marketing

“What is it like to work for Evojam? I believe the answer is in the name.

Evo stands for evolution.

The evolution of the workplace — we have access to modern office equipment and self-chosen tools, and the company is improving every day thanks to the strong feedback culture. And the evolution of the employee — we can develop our skills and talents in a supportive environment, taking employer-sponsored courses, making use of our library, and participating in knowledge-sharing events.

Jam stands for jam session.

We are encouraged to improvise like musicians during an informal performance. We decide on how to solve problems. We come up with our initiatives, brainstorm ideas, and try different paths. Experiments and unusual solutions are always welcome.

Long story short, Evojam stands for people. From submitting a job application to becoming a long-serving Evojammer, you are always treated like a human being. A human being that is worth investing in!“
